Your New England & Hampshire wedding photos are more than just selfies – they are pictures that will be shown to your grandchildren years and years from now. But more importantly, they are tokens of the most beautiful day of your life: your wedding.

Of course, you want to make sure everything about your wedding photos is absolutely flawless – and it all starts with hiring a great wedding photographer.

What about scheduling your wedding photos? When exactly should they all be taken? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

  • You’re getting ready and First Look photos will be taken before the wedding, on the morning of the Big Day. These photos don’t need to be planned too much – as long as your photographer knows when to join you and where exactly, a true professional will have no issue in guiding you to shoot some beautiful getting ready pictures. If you want to have a First Look photo session with your future spouse or with your father, you should discuss this beforehand and plan it with both your significant other/ father and your photographer.
  • Most of your wedding portraits and bridal party photos will be taken during the cocktail hour. This is where you usually have some sort of flexibility, in the sense that you can reschedule these photos for after the wedding (or before it). This is a good idea if you want to maximize the number of hours you spend actually partying with your guests, but it might not be a great idea if you don’t want to go through the entire dressing up/ makeup/ hairstyling process all over again. It all depends on where you stand in terms of how you want to spend your time on the Big Day.
  • If you plan on having a Trash the Dress photo session, you could have this after the wedding (even a couple of weeks after the Big Day is fine). This is when you can shoot some extra bridal portraits as well, since you will be all prepared and dressed up anyway.
