Doing Your Own Makeup as a Bride? Here’s How to Make Sure It Looks Great in Pictures!
There are many reasons you’d want to do your own makeup as a bride – starting with the fact that it’s a good option when you want to save a good dollar and ramping up to the fact that, well, you know your skin best and you know what looks good on you.
While we may not be makeup pros, we have shot thousands of wedding photos in New England & New Hampshire over the years – and we know what looks good on camera, as well as what doesn’t. So, if you want to make sure your bridal makeup looks amazing in the pictures too, keep in mind the following tips of advice:
- Avoid pink makeup on the eyelids. It may look sweet and soft and romantic in real life – but on pictures, it tends to emphasize tiresomeness (and with all the wedding planning going around in your life, it is perfectly understandable if you are, indeed, tired). Likewise, orange makeup could look edgy on some brides, but most of the times it looks a bit unnatural in the actual photos.
- Spray tans are fantastic! Giving your skin a beautiful, sun-kissed glow in a completely safe manner is a great option when you want to look amazing in the wedding photos. However, please keep in mind that you should schedule your spray tan about 5-6 days before the actual wedding day. This way, the tan will have plenty of time to be absorbed into the skin as a natural shade (as opposed to something that could pass off as orange in your wedding photos).
- Want to look more awake and fresh? Of course, your beauty sleep is essential when it comes to this. But when it goes down to the kind of makeup that helps you achieve this kind of look, nothing does it better than quality eyelashes. Keep them natural and feminine (and maybe ask for a professional to help you with this) – they will make even the simplest bridal makeup pop with elegance and beauty!
